Constantly changing regulations – a source of heightened vigilance for businesses

For many years now, consumer law has continued to extend its hold over the legal landscape, both in France and Europe, reflecting a constant desire to rebalance relations between businesses and consumers. This trend is set to accelerate in light of new economic challenges linked to the development of the digital economy, the energy transition and the circular economy. This is demonstrated by the fact that, regardless of the area of law concerned, almost all new legislation now contains a consumer aspect necessarily imposing new constraints on companies.

In response to these developments, businesses need to be even more vigilant, especially since the authorities have stepped up their attention in this regard in recent years, encouraged by their more stringent powers in respect of both investigations and sanctions. Whatever your sector or field of activity, there is therefore a constant need to adapt some of your practices to a diverse range of rules in order to conduct risk-free marketing or promotion of your products or services to consumers. In addition to the need to avoid harsh fines and unfair competition actions, correctly managing all of these obligations also gives you a significant competitive advantage while helping to protect your image.
